Easy Arts and Crafts for Grandma Day
With Mother's Day right around the corner, we can't forget the special woman who started it all – Grandma! Kids are so fortunate if they have a grandma in their lives. These Mother's Day crafts for Grandma are such a heartfelt way to show her some well-deserved love!
The Oh-So-Important Role of Grandma in a Child's Life
As a young kid, I was really fortunate to have both grandmas in my life, both living close-by. My childhood is filled with memories of playing in their backyards, going there for holidays and having them present for all the big life events – birthday, school concerts, and graduations.
As I got older, one set of grandparents moved to Florida (as most New Yorkers do), and the other set passed away when I was in my twenties. But I'm so grateful that I had them in my life growing up.
For my boys, both sets of grandparents live out of state. I'm so adamant about our boys growing up around family that we are actually moving to Tennessee to be near at least one set of grandparents. That's how strongly we feel about it.
Homemade Mother's Day Gifts for Grandma from the Kids
As Mother's Day rolls around, crafts are such a fun way for the grandkids to show Grandma how much she means. And grandmas will absolutely love anything that comes from their grandbabies (my boys made my mother-in-law a Christmas ornament that was just all scribbles, and she adored it!).
I especially wanted these crafts to be for grandmothers for 2 reasons.
1| Grandmas are so special in a child's life; a handmade gift from a grandchild is so meaningful and it's such a sweet keepsake.
2| Moms, do we really want to make our own Mother's Day gifts?!? I mean…unless Dad is going to pitch in and help…. it's pretty much like making yourself a present. And after all the tantrums and fighting and effort and clean-up… by the time you are sweating and your nerves are shot, it might not really feel like a gift for you anymore. At least if it's for grandma, it's a worthy sacrifice.
So, I thought this was a great opportunity to honor the grandmas. There are lots of skill levels included here – from the littlest ones right up to the older kids. But for sure, Grandma (Nana, Nanny, Gigi…) will adore whatever the grandkids make her. And moms, I really do hope it's a little bit fun in the process.
If so, that's their gift to you. ๐
OK, on to Grandma's gift!
